On a recent trip, I had the opportunity to wait on a street corner observing people for about two hours. This particular corner had a gentleman selling something that involved some type of food item. He would rush up to the passerby on this corner and get right in their face. He would then begin to unroll his sales pitch. For about 45 minutes every attempt resulted in a quick brush off, but about the hour point, he actually made a sale. Why would anyone purchase an unknown food item from someone on a street corner? Was it just to get rid of the guy? There are many reasons why people make purchase decisions. Clearly, this human spammer was playing the volume of people on this corner against the odds of individual rejection.
I enjoyed the observation of this gentleman as I travel often and get to visit and observe different cultures.
