Everyone is an amateur photographer today. Why not, any digital camera or phone enables us to express our photographic talent easily. It's exciting when technology can enabled a talent, when it function integrates into our lives in a seamless manner. This does not happen overnight and it's fun to look back at how a technology matured. Many years ago, I was required to have a cellphone for my job. No big deal right? Well this baby was in a suit case and had an antenna that had to be deployed for use. I can recall making a call outside a conference at Moscone Center in San Francisco. I set up my phone, opened my briefcase, deployed the antenna, and made that $10 a minute call. I was On the cutting edge of technology. In 1967, on approach to the moon, the onboard computer that was assisting Neil Armstrong make the first lunar landing overloaded. Armstrong took over the control and choose his lunar landing spot manually. It seems that the computations to land the lunar module overwhelmed the system. That computer had less computational power than any smartphone in any 13yr olds pocket. Our imagination and vision of a technology and how it can perform better to meet our specific needs is what drives the improvement. It's important to strive towards the ultimate form of a technology and to not be content at any point along the way. If we accept status quo, we endure darkrooms and expensive chemicals or briefcase telephones forever.
E-learning should be looked upon in the manner. How can technology help us learn concept better?. Is the ultimate deliver of the technology a book you purchase and an online test?
